QUALIFICATIONS MINIMALES
• Licence en soins infirmiers, en technologie médicale, en microbiologie, en santé publique ou dans un domaine connexe. Une maîtrise est souhaitée (un certificat de formation ou de cours sur la prévention des infections est un atout).
• 3 ans d'expérience dans les pratiques de contrôle des infections au sein d'un hôpital, en prenant particulièrement en compte les centres de cancérologie ou les hôpitaux.
• Connaissance approfondie des principes, pratiques et lignes directrices en matière de prévention et de contrôle des infections.
• Expérience des pratiques de contrôle des infections au sein d'un hôpital, en prenant particulièrement en compte les centres de cancérologie ou les hôpitaux.
• Excellentes compétences en matière de communication et de relations interpersonnelles afin d'engager et d'éduquer efficacement le personnel hospitalier, les patients et les soignants.

JOB SUMMARY
The Officer, Infection and Prevention Control (IPC) is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating infection prevention and control activities within the hospital setting. The role involves working closely with healthcare staff, patients, and MoH/GHO to ensure compliance with infection control policies, procedures, and best practices. This position plays a critical role in preventing and controlling the spread of infections within the hospital and safeguarding the well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Infection Prevention and Control
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive infection prevention and control activities for the hospital.
• Stay updated with current guidelines, regulations, and best practices in infection control and adapt them to the leukemia department /unit with consideration of MNCH department.
• Lead the regular risk assessments, surveillance, and data analysis to identify risk of infection trends, outbreaks, and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (Senior Officer, Oncology Quality Care, Quality Committee) to develop and revise infection control policies, protocols, and guidelines based on the context.
Education and Training
• Provide education and training to hospital staff, patients, and caregivers on infection prevention and control measures, including hand hygiene, personal protection, care for cancer patients, equipment (PPE), and proper disposal of infectious waste.
• Coordinate with MoH and other cancer hospitals/centers on infection control-related programs/activities, workshops, and presentations for staff and other stakeholders.
• Serve as a resource person for infection control-related inquiries and provide guidance on best practices.
Monitoring and Surveillance
• Conduct routine surveillance of healthcare-associated infections, including tracking and reporting of infection rates and trends.
• Investigate outbreaks or clusters of infections and implement appropriate control measures to contain and prevent further spread.
Infection Control Practices
• Ensure compliance with infection control practices, policies, and regulations throughout the hospital.
• Perform regular audits and inspections of patient care areas, equipment, and environmental hygiene to identify potential infection risks.
• Monitor compliance with hand hygiene, aseptic techniques, isolation precautions, and sterilization/disinfection procedures.
Collaboration and Leadership
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and other departments to implement and promote infection prevention and control strategies.
• Serve as a consultant and advisor to hospital workers on infection control issues, outbreak management, and infection prevention protocols.
• Participate in infection control committees, quality improvement initiatives, and accreditation processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in nursing, medical technology, microbiology, public health, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred (Certification in Infection Control training or course) is an asset.
• 3 years’ experience in infection control practices within a hospital with special consideration of cancer centers or hospitals.
